Hey everyone!! It's Brian with my first tutorial on my blog... Today, we are going to make a basket weave placemat with minimal supplies... Here we go..........
* First off, we need to get 3 pieces of 8 1/2 x 11 cardstock, one white, and 2 more sheets with your choice of colors. I used red and green for mine, as I was going for a Christmas look. Glue is recommended, but not required
* Next, we cut 1/2 inch off the short (8 1/2) side of our three pieces of cardstock.
* After we are done with that, we need to set aside the two sheets of now 8 x 11 colored cardstock for just a moment.
* Now, we want to take our white sheet of cardstock and very lightly score at the 1 and 10 inch marks.
* What we do next is score at the 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 inch marks, starting at the 1 inch lightly scored mark to the 10 inch lightly scored mark
* How we do the cutting is up to you. You could take a ruler and an X-acto knife and cut each line, or you could use a trimmer and trim the seven score lines running from 1 to 10 inches... Your choice
* After completing the previous step, we now need to cut several 1 x 8 inch strips from the two colored sheets.
* This next part is a little difficult for some, however, the results will be VERY rewarding. For the first and second row, we need the weave to go as follows from bottom to top:
* FIRST ROW: over, under, over, under, over, under, over, under
* SECOND ROW: under, over, under, over, under, over, under, over
* This process continue as so until we have reached the end of the cut marks
* If desired,glue the ends with a good adhesive. Glue Dots work well.
* FINISHED PRODUCT:
Thanks for stopping by!!
Bye for now
